The Dive Bar has been on the beach since 2005. If you have been in Fort Lauderdale for a while, you might remember this location as Gum Wrappers, a famous Gentlemen’s Club. The poles and mirrors are gone now. In their place are two large bars, a pool table and a large stage for some of the best local music around.
Gary Marcotte and Cody Cole are your hosts since May of 2011.
Cody hails from Casper, Wyoming and has been a Floridian since 2007. With a Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology, he can be found behind the bar most day’s with an open ear. An experienced manager and bartender, he has also worked in the criminal justice system in Colorado with at-risk youth and in mental health here in Florida. So you can see he has the background for this business.
Gary is new to the bar business. He grew up in Detroit in the auto business, retiring in 2011 after 31 years. He earned his MBA from the University of Virginia and his career included 11 years at General Motors, helping to launch the Lexus luxury brand and AutoNation, where he worked for 13 years, including the final 6 as Chief Marketing Officer. He still does a little project work with start up technology companies in Chicago, Austin, TX and California but now spends most of his time at The Dive where you can find him at nite on the weekends, or booking the bands or maybe even signing Karaoke.
Gary and Cody live in Oakland Park, FL and are active in the community. They volunteer with Women in Distress, Habitat for Humanity, and other local causes. Gary serves on the board of the Jack and Jill Children’s Center and on a task force for Women in Distress.
