“Brrrrrr I’m cold” seems to be on repeat around here in South Florida lately and the looming polar vortex isn’t helping.
While we might be getting some crap from those up north who think the cold front passing through Florida is a joke — yeah yeah we get it Minnesota — the colder weather is expected to get better this week but is also supposed to bring about some extra rain.
Those of us who are local to South Florida are not used to cooler temps, and those northerners who are down here for a visit certainly didn’t book a flight for subpar sun and sand conditions.
It's still coming — next week … Brutal Arctic cold that some call "Barney" b/c of the color on this map.
Surface temperatures would be 35°-55°F below normal for much of the Midwest including Minneapolis, Chicago and Detroit — actual temperatures way below zero. pic.twitter.com/LI5GLZWVeA

While everyone is over this Polar Vortex weather and ready to get back to our consistently sunny and warm days, we do know the perfect place to stay warm until later this year when you’re looking for cooler and dry.
Head over the Galt Ocean mile and visit us at The Dive Bar, an Oakland Park Bar. We welcome everyone, locals and northerners alike, to visit us for great food, a nice drink, and the best Fort Lauderdale live music.
We can keep the temperature on lock down in here so you can enjoy your beer and maybe a burger and fries special, or listen to the most fun karaoke in all of Florida.
Karaoke is hosted every Sunday and Monday nights and the crowd is always a blast to hang out with. It’s one of the most fun activities of the week and certain to never get rained (or cold-ed) out!
We will even be happy to chat about that big Barney cold front passing through the Midwest while we enjoy a drink in our “light layers.”
